Walking Dead Season 4 episode 5 review

This episode was pretty crazy but the ending kind of threw me off guard.  Overall it was a great episode with a good number of high points.

Sickness is spreading

Those that were quarantined seemed to be getting worse and worse by the second.  It was sad though that they were killing off.  I kind of wanted to get to know some more of the people from Woodbury.

This episode was definitely Hershel's moment to shine.  Throughout the whole episode you never really saw him lose that much of his faith.  I particularly liked the fight near the end with the walker which showed that Hershel still had some spunk in him.  It also seemed like he was now able to kill walkers without that much hesitation.  We had never really seen him kill that many since season two.  It seemed like Hershel grew a lot in this episode which is a good thing because we need him to grow.

I seriously thought for a couple of minutes that they were going to kill Glenn off.  This show has a nasty habit of bumping characters off without a moments notice.  He is not out of the woods yet though as he is still bed ridden.

Rick and Carl

This episode developed the father and son relationship a bit more.  Rick seems more okay with including Carl in group activities now that he has seen Carl can handle himself. He had also found out that Carl could watch his back when need be.  It will be interesting to see where this will go in future episodes.  Maybe Rick will let Carl go on runs outside the prison?

Governor returns

Just as the episode was ending we caught sight of the Governor beyond the prison walls.  This was something that did not seem like it was going to happen until later on in the season.  For a while I was starting to wonder if we would ever see him at all.  Now that the prison is weak because of the sickness it would be a great opportunity for him to strike.  We will have to see what plans he will come up with in future episodes.
